How to Play PowerBall — and What PowerBall Plus Adds
PowerBall is South Africa's biggest-jackpot lottery game, drawn every Tuesday and Friday evening. Here is how a board works:
- Pick 5 main numbers from 1–50, plus 1 PowerBall from a separate pool of 1–20 (or take a quick pick). A board costs R5.00.
- Add PowerBall Plus for R2.50 more — your same numbers enter a second, completely independent draw held straight after the main one, with its own machine and its own jackpot. Plus cannot be played on its own.
- Play PowerBall online via the official National Lottery website and app, through participating banks, or at any authorised Ithuba retailer. Sales close around 20:30 on draw nights, ahead of the 21:00 PowerBall draw time.
- Sign the back of a physical ticket immediately — it is a bearer document — and check your numbers after every draw. Prizes expire after 365 days, and winnings are tax-free.
