PowerBall Hot Numbers Pairs
The most frequent two-number combinations from our tracked SA PowerBall (5/50 + PowerBall) draw history — calculated directly from confirmed results, explained honestly, and kept separate from the PowerBall number's own distinct frequency picture.
1. What Are Hot Number Pairs in PowerBall?
A hot pair is two numbers that have appeared together in the same PowerBall draw more often than most other two-number combinations, based on our tracked draw history. SA PowerBall draws 5 main numbers from a pool of 50, plus a separate PowerBall drawn from its own smaller pool of 20 — and every draw's 5 main numbers produce exactly 10 distinct two-number pairs among themselves. Tally those pairs across enough draws, and some combinations will simply have come up together more than others.
PowerBall's dual-pool structure makes it worth being precise about what "pairing" actually means here. The pairs on this page are calculated only among the 5 main numbers — the separate PowerBall number is tracked as its own frequency line entirely, in section 4, since it's drawn from a genuinely different, much smaller pool using a separate part of the draw mechanism. PowerBall also draws twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday, which shapes how much real-world time a given draw-count window actually spans.
It's worth being clear about what makes a PowerBall-specific pairs page genuinely different from the Daily Lotto and main Lotto versions, rather than a relabelled copy of either. Daily Lotto has no second number at all. Lotto's Bonus Ball comes from the exact same pool as its main numbers, effectively acting like a 7th main ball. PowerBall's structure is different again: a smaller 50-ball main pool than Lotto's 52, only 5 main numbers rather than 6, and a genuinely separate 20-ball pool for the PowerBall itself. Each of those details changes the underlying arithmetic enough that borrowing conclusions from either other page would misrepresent how PowerBall's own numbers actually behave.
2. Current Hottest Number Pairs

This table updates as new draws are confirmed and added to the tracked window. See our general Hot & Cold Numbers page for individual number frequency instead of pairs.
3. How We Calculate Pair Frequency for PowerBall
The method is fully reproducible from public draw history — nothing here is estimated or adjusted for effect.
- Pull the tracked draw window
We take our most recent 500 confirmed PowerBall draws (or all confirmed draws if fewer than that are loaded).
- List every pair among the 5 main numbers
Each draw's 5 main numbers produce exactly 10 unique two-number pairs. We generate all 10 for every draw — the separate PowerBall number is excluded from this step entirely.
- Tally occurrences across the window
Every time a specific pair appears within a draw's 10 pairs, its running count increases by one.
- Rank by frequency
Once the full window is processed, we sort all observed pairs from most to least frequent to produce the hot and cold tables on this page.
With 143 draws analysed, this window has generated 1,430 individual pair-observations, spread across 843 of the 1,225 mathematically possible two-number combinations from a 50-ball pool — covering roughly 1.4 years of twice-weekly Tuesday-and-Friday draws. That's real arithmetic on real data, not a curated or hand-picked list.
4. Hot Pairs vs Individual Hot Numbers vs the PowerBall
PowerBall's structure gives us a genuine three-way comparison: main-number pairs, individual main-number frequency, and the separate PowerBall number's own frequency — three different measurements from three genuinely different parts of the same draws.

This is a meaningfully different mechanic from a Bonus Ball game. SA Lotto's Bonus Ball is drawn from the very same 1–52 pool as its main numbers — it's effectively a 7th ball pulled from an identical drum. PowerBall's second number is drawn from a completely separate, much smaller 1–20 pool using its own distinct part of the machine. That's why we don't attempt to pair the PowerBall number with main numbers the way you might loosely associate a Lotto Bonus Ball with its main draw — the two numbers on a PowerBall ticket come from genuinely different physical processes, and treating them as comparable would misrepresent how the game actually works.
5. Do Hot Pairs Improve Your Chances? (Honest Answer)
No — and it's worth explaining exactly why, rather than just asserting it.
Every PowerBall draw is an independent random event. The draw machine has no memory of which numbers have appeared together in previous draws. A pair that's shown up together many times across our tracked window has exactly the same probability of being drawn together on the next specific draw as a pair that's never appeared together at all, because the physical process generating each draw doesn't retain any information from the last one.
This applies equally to main-number pairs, individual hot numbers, and a frequently-drawn PowerBall number — none of the three measurements in section 4 change the underlying probability of any future draw, regardless of which part of the machine produced them.
It's also worth addressing a specific version of this misconception that PowerBall's format invites: because the main numbers and the PowerBall come from separate pools and separate parts of the draw, some players assume that makes the overall outcome somehow more "combinable" or predictable than a single-pool game. It doesn't. The two draws happen independently of each other and independently of every previous Tuesday or Friday's results. Splitting the mechanism into two pools changes how the odds are calculated mathematically — multiplying the main-number odds by the separate PowerBall odds — but it doesn't introduce any pattern for either part to follow.
6. How to Use Hot Pairs Responsibly in PowerBall
- Treat this as entertainment, not strategy. Exploring frequency data is a fine reason to look at this page — just not a reason to expect better odds.
- Never increase your spending because of a "hot" pattern. A frequent pair is not a signal to buy more boards or exceed your planned budget.
- Don't chase a frequent PowerBall number either. Since it comes from an entirely separate pool and mechanism, treating it as an extra "lucky" signal doesn't change your odds any more than the main pairs do.
- Consider Quick Pick as an equally valid alternative. Our Quick Pick generator is just as statistically sound as any hand-picked "hot" selection.
7. Cold or Rarely Seen Pairs
On the opposite end of the same dataset, here are the 10 pairs that have appeared together least often in our tracked window — among pairs that have appeared at least once. We don't fabricate a ranking for pairs with zero observed occurrences; there are 382 such combinations in this window, out of 1,225 mathematically possible pairs.

As with the hot pairs table, treat this purely as historical description. A pair sitting at the bottom of this table is not "overdue" and does not carry better or worse odds than any pair at the top.
8. Tips for Combining Hot Pairs with Other Strategies
If you enjoy building your own PowerBall numbers rather than using Quick Pick, here's how hot pairs data fits alongside other approaches — none of which change the underlying math, but some of which make the process more engaging if that matters to you.
- Mix a hot pair with personally meaningful numbers
Anniversaries, birthdays, or lucky numbers carry the same odds as anything else — combining them with a hot pair doesn't change that, but it can make your ticket feel more personal.
- Cross-reference with the three-way comparison in section 4
See how your chosen pair's individual numbers rank on their own, and check the separate PowerBall table if you're also choosing a PowerBall preference.
- Check the full results history for context
Our PowerBall Results Archive lets you see exactly which draws contributed to any pair's frequency count.
- Try our Predictions page for ready-made sets
Our PowerBall Predictions page builds several different labelled number sets if you'd rather start from a complete set than build one from scratch.
9. Responsible Gambling Note
PowerBall is a game of chance, not a system that can be solved through pattern analysis. Every piece of frequency data on this page is genuine and calculated transparently, but none of it changes the fundamental odds of any PowerBall ticket.
- Set a budget before you play, and stick to it regardless of any "hot" pattern you've noticed.
- Never increase your spending because a pair or PowerBall number looks statistically interesting.
- Treat any win as a bonus, never an expectation.
- You must be 18 or older to purchase a National Lottery ticket.
